Major News & Events




Our main annual event is the East Coast Masters Tournament which is held jointly with the St. Helens Golf Club  and this year will be on the 5th. and the 6th. November.  Sponsorship for the event is approximately $10,000.00.  The major sponsors are Gazzmans, St. Helens, Cables Plus Tasmania and the Break O'Day Council.

Enrolment invitations will sent out to our existing database of past players on the 1st. April,  giving them first option of enrolling for this year's event.  If the field of 88 men and 48 ladies is unfilled from this invitation, entry forms will then be sent out to all Tasmanian clubs.   Day 1 for the ladies will be held at Scamander and Day 2 at St. Helens with a 10 a.m. shotgun start on both days.  The men's competition will be Day 1 at St. Helens and Day 2 at Scamander with a rolling start from 8.30 a.m.

The event is a stableford format with prizes in 3 divisions for the men and 2 divisions for the ladies each day and then aggregate scores for the 2 days to decide the winners of Masters Champion for each of the men and ladies.  The winners of the event in addition to their very substantial winning awards are each presented with Masters jackets.  The cost for the event is $60.00 per player and this includes morning tea, course snacks, lunches, after game barbecues and numerous  trophies.  There is also a mystery teams event with teams of 4 players drawn at random and with the winning team receiving $100.00 per player.  Last year we had entries from players from 20 different Tasmania clubs and 4 entries from N.S.W.

Last year's Masters Champions Pat Davis and Dot Hardcastle are expected to again nominate and defend their titles. 


Once again congratulations are due to our ladies pennant players who have again won the East Coast pennant title.

They went into their last roster match needing to win against St. Helens at St. Helens and came away 5-0 victors.   


The Club have recently erected a new additional machinery shed and proudly have taken possession of a new tractor with bucket, slasher and spray unit.   The spray unit will allow us to spray both our greens and fairways.   The Club applied for and received a grant of $10,000 from the Tasmanian Government to assist with the purchase.  The Club is also in the process of erecting a 2 bay practice net facility alongside our practice putting green.

Social Membership was introduced this year with an annual cost of $150.00 which allows social players to play on the course as often as they desire but excludes them from competitions and gaining a golflink number.  If in the future they wish to join as a full member then they then pay the balance of membership fees.   We have had an immediate response to this facility and we now have  in excess of 40 social members.

Sponsorship is at an all time high with the majority of Saturday competitions during the year being sponsored and we thank our many sponsors very much for their continued support.

Competitions are held each Tuesday for the ladies with a 9.30 start and each Wednesday and Saturday for both men and ladies with these competitions being a 10 a.m. shotgun start.  Visitors are most welcome to take part in our competitions with an entry fee of $15.00.

Green fees are $20.00 per player for either 9 or 18 holes for social play.  Large groups can negotiate a discounted fee.  Hire clubs and buggies are available at $10.00.

Cart Hire is available at $25.00 per cart.
